Urban Electric Power
Jinchao Huang is the Vice President of Battery Development at Urban Electric Power (UEP), where she leads the company’s R&D efforts to advance rechargeable zinc-manganese dioxide (Zn|MnO₂) battery technology. Her work focuses on improving the energy density, cost-effectiveness, and scalability of Zn|MnO₂ systems for grid reliability, backup power, and renewable energy integration.
Jinchao has been working with Zn|MnO₂ batteries since 2013, beginning with her Ph.D. research at the City College of New York under Professor Sanjoy Banerjee, where she developed ion-selective separators for long-cycle, high-energy-density Zn|MnO₂ batteries. After completing her Ph.D., she joined UEP and has since played a key role in driving the company’s technology from lab-scale innovation to commercial deployment.
