Martin Gieb is Policy Officer in the Directorate-General “Research & Innovation” of the European Commission, in Directorate “Clean Planet”, Unit “Clean Energy Transition”. His tasks are to contribute to research policies on sustainable energy, with focus on energy storage and materials for energy. He joined the European Commission in 1997 after some years of work in industry. Since then he was working for the EC in Luxembourg, Lisbon and Brussels, in the areas of nuclear safeguards and regulation, and in research funding of advanced materials, including materials for automotive battery storage. He holds a PhD in applied physics and a post-graduation in business management.
